Guide for Authors
The journal follows a set of rules and instructions for publication as follows:
- Submitted research and studies must be original in the fields of education and psychology, adhere to established scientific research methodology and identified steps, and have not been previously published elsewhere.
- The Journal of the Faculty of Education, Assuit University, follows strict policies in dealing with citations. All articles submitted to the journal are examined using specialized electronic programs and digital sites to verify the percentage of citation. Submitted articles with an unacceptable citation percentage, are rejected by the journal.
- Research and studies must be submitted with abstracts and appendices in three copies to undergo scientific arbitration by specialized professors to determine eligibility for publication.
- The research is written on the computer, of single-spaced, size 14 Simplified Arabic font with 3cm margins on B5 paper. The number of pages is calculated based on the journal's layout.
- The first page (research or study abstract) should be preceded by a cover including the research title, author's name(s), academic title(s), and position(s), contact information(s).
- Research and studies for publication must be received by the journal's secretariat at least two months before the issue's publication date.
- Authors must adhere to the APA referencing system in-text and bibliography, especially using the author's name.
- English research must be typed in Times New Roman, font size 14.
- Abstracts must not exceed 200 words. Research submitted in a foreign language must include an Arabic abstract.
- The editorial board reserves the right to initially examine research and determine eligibility or rejection for publication.
- The author must submit a pledge signed by all participants, if any, indicating that the research has not been previously published, is not submitted for publication elsewhere until the journal's review and publication process is complete, and is not part of a published book.
- All journal content cannot be published in any other forum without written permission from the editorial board.
- All published content represents the author's opinion and does not necessarily reflect the editorial board or advisory board views.
- Researchers whose research or studies approved contribute to the journal's printing and publishing costs according to the university council's decision in 6/20/2017.
- Publication processing fees, based on the affiliation of the first researcher, apply as follows:

Standards for research papers
Authors should include accurate specifications of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. The research paper must also have sufficient details and references to allow others to elaborate on it.
Originality and plagiarism
Authors should make sure that they have written original research entirely and if they use the research or words of others, this should be quoted or cited appropriately.
Duplicate or simultaneous publications
In general, the author should not publish papers that essentially describe the same research in more than one journal or research paper.
Copyrights
- The researcher is committed to the credibility of copyright, such that s/he includes in the list of authors everyone who has a valuable intellectual or scientific contribution to the process of conducting the research and its outcomes.
- A valuable intellectual or scientific contribution includes performing the following four tasks combined:
- The researcher’s participation in designing and planning the research project, extracting or obtaining research data, or analyzing or interpreting research data.
- The researcher participates in drafting important parts of the scientific paper prepared for publication or critically reviewing it.
- Final approval of the version to be published.
- Carrying the responsibility of integrity and accuracy of all aspects of the research and its outputs.
- Copyright must not be assigned in the following cases:
- Lack of valuable intellectual or scientific contribution to the research or its outputs.
- Contribution is limited to providing funding, data, raw materials, or equipment used to conduct the research.
- Dedicating the authorship to the person’s legal value to raise the status of the research.
Disclosure and conflict of interests
All authors must disclose, in their manuscripts, any financial or other significant conflict of interests that might affect the results of their research. Accordingly, all sources of financial support for the research project must be disclosed (including the grant number or any other referential number, if available).
Major errors in published works
When an author discovers a major error or inaccuracy in his published work, it is his/her duty to notify the journal editor immediately and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
Copyright and Licensing
- Every article published in Journal of Faculty of Education, Assiut University is licensed under Publisher's own license with the copyright for Journal of Faculty of Education, Assiut University The articles are released Under an open-access Policy.
Open-Access Policy
Under an open-access Policy, all articles published in the Journal of Faculty of Education, Assiut University are freely accessible to anybody, anywhere in the world, at any time. This means that :
- the full text of all articles published in the journal of the Faculty of Education, Assiut University is available to anyone, anywhere, at no cost.
- The published material may be reused by anyone, anywhere, at no cost, provided that the original publication is appropriately credited or referenced;
- The authors of accepted articles contribute to open-access publication by paying the Article Processing Charge .
Journal policies for data sharing
The Journal of Faculty of Education, Assiut University encourages all researchers, participating in the journal, to share their research data unless there are ethical, legal, or have privacy reasons that prevent sharing the data. Therefore, data can be shared by the approved researcher for correspondence upon request. If there is a third party with copyright ownership, the data collected by researchers from [third party] will be shared through the approved researcher for correspondence after obtaining authorization from [third party].

Research/ Experimenting on humans
When publishing research that includes human subjects, materials, tissues or data, authors must state that the research was conducted in accordance with the 1975 Helsinki Declaration, as revised in 2013

According to this declaration, Official approvals must be obtained from the authorities responsible for the ethics of scientific research before conducting research to ensure compliance with national and international standards.
Animal Research
Editors will ask the author to state that the potential scientific benefit of their research outweighs the harm to the animals and that the methods used are not offensive to the majority of readers. Authors must ensure that their study adheres to the "3Rs" standards in general, including:
- Replacing the use of animals with other alternatives if possible.
- Reducing the number of animals used.
- Refining experimental conditions and methods to reduce animal suffering.

* The author must adhere to the following:
- Scientific references should be documented according to the American Psychological Association (APA) style.
- References in English must be written in Times New Roman font.
- The importance of citing scientific references in research lies in: proving the sources of information and attributing them to their authors for scientific integrity, acknowledging others' efforts and scientific rights, and helping readers locate the reference source in the reference list at the end of the research. Citation is done both within the research text and in the reference list at the end.
First: Citation within the research text
* The author must adhere to the following:
- Citation at the beginning of a paragraph: write the surname outside parentheses followed by (publication year) in parentheses. Example: Al-Zayat (2020) mentions that thinking skills...

- Citation at the end of a paragraph: if the reference comes at the end of the sentence, write (family name, publication year) in parentheses.
Example: ...to help the learner think. (Al-Zayat, 2020)
- Citing two authors: document both names every time the reference is mentioned in the text, separating them with "and" (And/&) without a comma.
Example: Al-Issawi and Al-Khatib (2022) mention that... As Thomas and Bell defined skills...
- Use "and" before the last author's name when listing names within the text, and use "&" when placing the reference in parentheses.
Example: ... (Thomas & Bell, 2021)
- Citing three or more authors
write only the first author's surname followed by "et al."
Example: Ali et al. (2020) indicate... Joni et al. (2023) believe that...
- At the end of a paragraph, separate references with a semicolon (;).
Citing two similar references with three or more surnames
- if there are two similar references with three or more surnames and the same publication year, indicate the first author's surname and the other authors' surnames until the similarity is resolved.
- If a reference is repeated in the same paragraph, mention the date only the first time.
- If there are two references by the same author in the same year, use alphabetical letters to distinguish one study from another, giving the first reference mentioned in the text the letter (a) or (أ).
- Citing two references by different authors with the same surname
- write the first name before the surname, even if the publication year is different.
Example: Khaled Al-Masri (2018) indicated and Ali Al-Masri (2020) confirmed that...
And R. Marzano (2008) believes, and J. Marzano (2010) mentioned...
- If the author is a group (institution, university, publishing place, association, company, ...) on first mention, write the full name of the entity followed by the abbreviation - if any - in square brackets [ ], then a comma, then the publication year. In subsequent mentions, use only the abbreviation.
- Citing translated work
- write the name of the original author (not the translator) followed by the original publication date/translation date.
- When the word "studies" appears in the research text, at least three studies that can be referenced must be documented.
Second: Citation in the references list
* The author must adhere to the following:
- The references list is written on a separate page entitled (References).
- Only the references mentioned in the research are written, and it is not permissible to write any reference that is not mentioned in the body of the research.
- References are arranged alphabetically according to the author’s last name (surname).
- The line spacing between references is single.
- Do not use an indent in the first line, while in the second line there is a hanging indent of 1 cm.
- There is no numbering in the references list.
- When writing the title of (a book - a master’s or doctoral thesis - a conference research paper - a seminar - a journal or periodical); It should be in italics.
- Citing more than one reference by the same author: When there is more than one reference by the same author In case the year of publication differs, References are arranged according to the date of publication (from oldest to newest). If the publication is in the same year, the references are arranged alphabetically according to the letters given to them in the text. If there are co-authors: Individual author references are arranged first, followed by joint research references with other authors, arranged alphabetically according to the surnames of the co-authors.
- Citing a reference that has more than one author, When a reference has more than one author, the names of all authors participating in the research, up to 20 authors, must be mentioned. The abbreviation et al. must not be used. The names of the authors are separated by a comma, and the conjunction (and) or the symbol (&) are used before writing the name of the last author.
- The general format for citing books
Author's surname, author's name. (Date of publication). The title of the book in italics, the edition number in case it’s after the first one written in parentheses (Ed. X). publisher.
- Citing a first-edition book
- Author's surname, author's name. (Date of publication). Book title in italics. publisher.
- Citing a book after the first edition
- Author's surname, author's name. (Date of publication). The title of the book in italics, the edition number in case it’s after the first one written in parentheses (Ed. X). publisher.
- Citing a translated book:
- Author's surname (not the translator's surname), author's name (date of publication). Book title in italics (name of translator, translator). publisher. The date of publication of the original work is in parentheses (date of publication of the original work ××××)
- The general format for citing an article published in a journal
- Author's surname, author's name. (Date of publication). Article title. Name of the journal or periodical in italics, volume number in italics (issue number), page range ××-××.
- The name of the journal or periodical and volume number are written in italics.
- The issue number is placed in parentheses in normal format, and no comma is placed between it and the volume number.
- Page numbers are written directly without writing the abbreviation (pp) or (PP). Example: 55-98.
- There is no need to write a link to retrieve the article as long as it is retrieved from well-known databases.
- Citing an article published in a scientific journal with a DOI number
Author's surname, author's name. (Year of publication). Article title. Name of the journal or periodical in italics, volume number in italics (issue number), page range ××-××. Online article link
- Citing an article published in a scientific journal without a DOI number
If the article does not have a DOI number; It is replaced by writing the URL of the journal's home page and not the article link.
- Citing an unpublished master’s thesis
Author's surname, author's name (date of publication). The title of the thesis is written in italics and then in square brackets: [Unpublished master’s thesis]. Name of the institution.
- Citing an unpublished doctoral thesis.
Author's surname, author's name (date of publication). The title of the thesis is written in italics and then in square brackets: [Unpublished doctoral thesis]. Name of the institution.
- Citing a published master’s or doctoral thesis
Author's surname, author's name (date of publication). The title of the thesis in italics, then in square brackets [published master’s or doctoral thesis, name of the institution]. The name of the database or archive. Online link.
- Citing a scientific paper presented at a conference:
Title of the author of the paper, the name of the author of the paper. (Year of publication, month, days of the conference). Paper title in italics. Conference name, location.
- Citing a government report or document
The name of the entity or entities that prepared the document or report. (Year of publication). The title of the report or document in italics (report or document number). publisher.
- Citing an electronic report or government document
The name of the entity or entities that prepared the document or report. (Year of publication). Title of the report or document in italics (report or document number). Online link.
- Citing an organization report or document
The name of the organization or organizations preparing the document or report. (Year of publication). The title of the report or document in italics (report or document number). Online link.
