ABSTRACT_ The current research aimed at using the coupled inquiry cycle for developing depth of knowledge, and academic engagement for 2nd grade preparatory students. The research followed the descriptive analytical method and the experimental method with its quasi- experimental, The group of research consisted of experimental group (42), and control group (42) 2nd grade preparatory students in Gharbia , The researcher prepared activity Papers for students and Teacher guide in '' Light and Light " unit in the light of coupled inquiry cycle , and research tools (depth of knowledge test – Academic engagement scale) .
The results showed by using(T- Test) for independent samples and calculated the impact size that the teaching " Light and Sound " unit by using coupled Inquiry cycle had a positive effect on developing the cognitive depth of knowledge and Academic engagement. Results were discussed and presented recommendations related to the results of the research, the researcher also suggested making further studies and researches.
