Abstract

Egyptian universities are striving to develop a conceptual and applied framework to chart paths to the sustainable green university model. Evidence confirms that Egyptian universities have taken the initiative to adopt the foundations of university sustainability and apply them in the university system. Therefore, the current study aimed to determine the extent of the ability of Egyptian universities to improve environmental performance in light of the global green standard. For university ranks GMWUR; Through a questionnaire directed at faculty members to measure the real reality of the readiness of Egyptian universities and the dynamics of their transformation towards improving environmental performance based on the standards of the global green scale for university ranks, the results showed that the contribution of universities in protecting the environment and promoting sustainability, through educational programs and conducting research, is not achieved with a relative weight. 0.60, The contribution of universities to reducing waste was not achieved with a relative weight of 0.58, the contribution of universities to water conservation was achieved to a moderate degree with a relative weight of 0.61, and the use of environmentally friendly means of transportation by universities was not achieved with a relative weight of 0.59. In light of this, I proposed a vision for improving the environmental performance of Egyptian universities in light of Standards and indicators of the global green scale for university rankings
