Swartz's thinking-based program for developing some life skills for fifth grade elementary school students in the State of Kuwait

Abstract

The research aimed to know the effect of using the Schwartz model in teaching geometry to develop life skills for fifth grade primary school girls in the State of Kuwait. The research used the experimental method, as the research sample consisted of (30) male and female students from the fifth-grade primary school girls. Then, the research materials and tools were prepared, represented by the teacher's guide, students' worksheets, and the life skills test in the "Measurement and Geometry" units. The research tools were applied before and after to the research group. The research results showed that there was a statistically significant difference at the level of (0.01) between the average scores of the female students in the research group in the post-application of the life skills test as a whole and in all its skills, in favor of the post-measurement. The research recommended the necessity of holding training courses for mathematics teachers to train them on using the Schwartz model in teaching mathematics and increasing their awareness of life skills for the primary stage, and the necessity of benefiting from the life skills test in learning mathematics in evaluating the level of primary school students.
