Abstract

The current research aimed to reveal the prevailing leadership styles among secondary school principals in Qalqilya District from the point of view of teachers. The research was applied to a sample of (120) male and female teachers, and the differences in their answers were identified according to the variables of gender, academic qualification, and years of experience. The research adopted the descriptive analytical approach. For this purpose, a questionnaire consisting of (30) items was applied distributed over three areas of leadership styles: (democratic, autocratic, and dissident), The results showed that the democratic style was the dominant style among secondary school principals from the point of view of teachers to a large degree, while the autocratic style and the missionary style came to a small degree. The results confirmed that there were no statistically significant differences in the prevailing leadership styles among secondary school principals due to the variables of gender, educational qualification, and number of years of experience, In light of the results, the research presented some suggestions, including: holding workshops and training courses by education directorates for school principals that discuss leadership styles and highlight the advantages and disadvantages of each style.
